Dave Anderson is a former stand up comedian. He is now a illustrator and animator, he's animated for the likes of Colin Farrell, Bill Bailey and Alain de Botton and in the past couple of years has directed national campaigns for both Cancer Research UK and Jacamo.
A D&AD winner, he's also illustrated for Nike, Esquire, Women's Health and is the current regular for Metro. Anderson's artworks are simple but have great punchlines within the drawn lines. Sometimes relying on a pun for a slip of the tongue, Anderson's cartoons are funny.
I first came upon Anderson's work through a birthday card that was bought for me (first in the series above). I decided to look out for more of his works. He has a very distinctive style and voice. It's not often cards can make me laugh but Anderson manages to do it regularly.
No More Ice Cream is about bringing happiness, though the drawings might be naive they achieve the goal through their sardonic wit.
