Exploring the theme of childhood, memory, and time, French artist J. Isabelle Cornière’s work is beautifully delicate. Her work has regular themes including bubble blowing, goldfish and balloons.
Cornière creates her elegant sculptures out of bronze, coated with timeless white chalk that is then hand painted, and often paired with delicate glass accessories.
Cornière's work stems from the poetry she writes. The daughter of a composer her works reflect a life in the arts, as a song captures a feeling Cornière's sculptures, watercolours and paintings create a place in time. I have chosen to show a series of sculptures but these themes extend through all mediums she works in.
Cornière's simple figures are beautiful and delicate, the use of glass and tiny delicate detailing bring a blank canvas to life. Using a single colour to pick out a balloon or a swim hat is shocking against the alabaster white backdrops, instantly setting a scene.
