Monika Nowak is a french painter and illustrator.
Through her sexy pop heroines she expresses a certain vision of todays women. Strong but fragile. Monika's heroines are paradoxical, contradictory and excessive but also soft, wild, poetic and provocative. Monika produces her work using a combination of techniques.
Nowak's Comic Strip series show a hyper glamourised versions of women. Her mother, an actress in a theatre group in Krakow, was the prime model for her gallery of female models, as well as female heroes from Hitchcock movies, rock music, fashion or science fiction literature.
The comic book styling allows a window into femininity. She has refined her use of digital media and combines it with collage and free hand elements to create a totally unique style. Working with Plexiglass produces a mirror finish that really makes her work pop off the wall.
