Tatsuya Tanaka is the creator of the miniature calendar, he creates and photographs a miniature scene everyday from usual household objects, creating comedic scenes and commentary on current events.
Tanaka started the miniature calendar project in April 2011 and has created thousands of scenes. He says of his work 'Broccoli and parsley may sometimes look like a forest of trees, and tree leaves floating on the surface of water may sometimes look like little boats. Everyday occurrences seen from a miniature perspective can bring us lots of fun thoughts.'
I have taken images from February 2018 - as you can see there is a lot of interest in winter sports as this coincides with the Winter Olympics in Korea. There is humour in these pictures, some of which contain visual jokes or puns in the titles. The ability to have a fresh perspective on everyday items is incredibly important and Tanaka's imagination is incredible.
I started following Tanaka on Instagram and quickly found it one of my favourite accounts and one I eagerly awaited seeing what he had created. I really like his funny miniatures, if you like these you should also check out Slinkachu.
