Yvonne Michiels is a dutch photographer and digital artist who work tells personal stories about beauty, emotions and mortality.
Michiels uses digital manipulation to add layers to beautiful portraits of women. The hair is replaced with a cityscape or flowers to add a layer of vulnerability whether an individual lost in a large space or a reflection on the fleeting nature of beauty as the once magnificent blooms fade and wither.
Michiels' art questions traditional notions of beauty, her models are stunning but the additional layers that are add in post production make you question the image before you.
The cityscapes bring their own characteristics to the figures, cities like London, Barcelona and New York have their own energy which blends to the star simple framing of the model.
