Death of Guitar Pop are Essex duo Silky and Johnny, who have created a wonderfully modern take on two tone and ska.
If you like the Specials, Madness and Bad Manners this is a new band trying to bring some of those sounds back into the charts. A bit cleaner and more produced than any of those named bands they represent the scene in this in a time of manufactured pop acts where pop acts can cover classic songs with no fears of backlash and malice.

Silky has been a promoter in Essex for many years keeping the scene alive with his Ska Club nights which has now expanded to become a record label. 69 Candy Street was crowd funded and released without any major label backing. Death of Guitar Pop have received backing from a number of Ska and Two Tone luminaries helping them to promote their crowd funding campaign and guesting on the album.
69 Candy Street is a stream of liquid sunshine, I cant understand why it was released in November 2017, the music demands to be witnessed with the warmth of a sunny day on your face.
They are like a number of new ska / dub acts who are trying to keep the scene alive whilst also brining new ideas and techniques to the scenes, like Gentleman's Dub Club and The Skints.
